ACTIVITIES
The Senior Center is trying to get an AARP Driver Safety Class scheduled at the Parsons Center. We do not have an instructor in our area. If you are interested in being an instructor, you will need to complete an online training session for teaching the class and an in-person training, which may be given online if needed, to complete to process. Anyone interested should contact Terry Stone, tstone8278@suddenlink.net for information. Instructors receive a stipend for teaching the classes. If the instructor goes outside their service and the cost of expenses is higher than the stipend, the instructor will be reimbursed for mileage and a meal.
We have some volunteers from Mt. Grove that are going to get the folks from the Mt. Top Center area moving. Starting on Mondays these ladies will be there from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. to do mild exercises, tai chi, chair dancing, and maybe some yoga. Please plan to attend these sessions to improve your health and balance.
We are trying to entice more seniors to either visit the Mt. Top Center or Parsons Center. We are seeking suggestions of activities that you would attend at either Center. Some possibilities include: dance class, chair exercises, tai chi class, more crafts (be specific), more speakers, or other activities you would be willing to attend, please call Linda J Bonner at 304-478-2423 or write Tucker County Senior Citizens, 217 Senior Lane, Parsons, WV 26287.
Regular monthly activities include: Mt. Top: Free Lunch on the 1st and 3rd Thursday, Outpost (covered dish lunch) on the 2nd Wednesday, and a birthday celebration with cake provided by West Virginia Caring on the 2nd Tuesday.
Parsons: Free Lunch on the 1st Thursday and the 3rd Friday, Outpost on the 1st Tuesday, and birthday celebration is on the 3rd Thursday.
St. George Outpost will be Thursday, October 20th at 6:00 p.m. We will be having a delicious covered dish dinner followed by sharing time including poems and readings about Fall and Halloween. Please bring your favorite covered dish and join us for a fun evening of great food, fun, and fellowship.
