Schedule Your Blood Tests and Mammogram Now

The town of Terra Alta and Hospice Care Corporation are hosting its first Terra Alta Community Health Fair on Saturday, June 21, 2014.

The Terra Alta Community Health Fair will take place at the East Preston School in Terra Alta, WV from 7:00 – 11:00 AM. Mayor of Terra Alta, Tess Dixon and Kim Riley, Manager of Development and Outreach for Hospice Care and Weight Watchers Leader partnered to host this health fair and bring preventive health screenings and tests to the citizens of Terra Alta. “We felt this is part of our community responsibility to provide wellness, free services and low cost screenings. In some cases, this maybe the only medical services that some can afford,” said Kim Riley, Manager of Development and Outreach.

Hospice Care will be offering a variety of screenings through a blood draw for a low fee. This year CA 125 ($16) and Vitamin D ($26) along with multipashic panel ($33), thyroid panel with TSH ($25), Hemoglobin A1c ($13), and PSA ($23) testing.

Bonnie’s Bus a digital mammography center on wheels, will be on site, offering digital mammograms and breast care education to women. This is a service of WVU Healthcare and the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. The mammograms are billed to insurance, Medicaid or Medicare if available. Mammograms for women who do not have insurance will be covered by the West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program or through special grant funds. A physician’s order is needed for a mammogram. There is still plenty of room for women to receive this great preventive screening.

Hospice Care is looking for more agencies to provide preventive screenings and to participate with valuable information. If interested as a vendor or agency, please contact Kim Riley at kriley@hospicecarecorp.org.

Screenings and blood draws will begin at 7:00 AM and run until 11:00 AM, Mammograms until noon. Walk-in’s are welcome; however, appointments are recommended. To schedule an appointment, please call Misty with Hospice Care at (304) 864-0884.
