Due to the Coronavirus all activities at the Tucker County Senior Centers have been suspended until further notice. The office staff is still working so that if our seniors need anything, we are there to help. We are still delivering meals to those in need. If you see something you really like on the menu, call the day before or very early that morning and have them to fix one for you. You may then come to the back door and give your donation to the cooks who will hand you your meal.
The tour companies are still closed so we can’t get much information. We have been contacted (by e-mail) by the tour company that is handling the Lancaster trip. The theatre is closed until at least July 15th. They have asked us to wait until next year for our trip. We are going to try to get this trip scheduled for next year and when we know something, those that had signed up for this year will be notified first. When we receive the refund from the tour company, we will issue refund checks.
We are asking you to hold any trip payments for future trips until we notify you. We may have to ask for a couple payments at one time. Just put the money “in the cookie jar” until we are able to take payments again. We may have to ask for more than 1 payment at a time. We will let you know when we find out something.
REMINDER: CENSUS FORMS NEED TO BE FILLED OUT
There have been a lot of questions about the Census. It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that everyone fills out the Census because this is where we get the money from the federal government for our senior services, schools, roads, and healthcare. This also determines how many representatives we get in Congress. You may be finding a white plastic bag on your porch with the form in it. You need to fill it out (it only takes 5 or 10 minutes) and mail it in or you can call 1-844-330-2020 and give them the information over the phone. If you have access to a computer, you may go to my2020census.gov and fill it out there. If you are having trouble filling it out you may get a caregiver, neighbor, or friend to help you. At this point, because of the coronavirus, the Census Bureau will not be doing face-to-face visits. In a couple of months if you have not registered then they will send someone to your house to have you fill it out. Please be aware that there are a lot of Census scams out there. DO NOT give your personal information to anyone you are not sure about.
PLEASE do not leave books, magazines, clothes etc. on our porch. Because of the corona virus we are not permitted to take these kinds of donations until further notice.
We ask that you continue to keep safe and follow the government guidelines. We are anxious to have you back at the Centers but please know that we will be following the guidelines set up by the Bureau of Senior Services, the County Health Department, and the Governor of West Virginia.
