Because we can’t go on any trips this year, I will be putting some websites here in our column for those who have a computer. You will be able to take virtual tours or at least have some entertainment. This week you need to go to YouTube.com and check out Longwood Gardens, “Fly Through the Conservatory” in Kennett Square, PA. You can also check out “Expedition Everest: The Mission.” I hope you enjoy these.
It’s that time of year again. Medicare Open Enrollment is from October 15th to December 7th. Now is your chance to review your coverage and compare it to other options. Over the next few weeks, be looking for information from your current plan, Medicare, or Social Security. Be on the lookout for your new “Medicare & You” handbook. Just remember that plans are not allowed to call or come to your home without an invitation from you.
Call NOW to make an appointment with the SHIP Counselors. You need to call 304-636-4747. Due to the Covid pandemic, they are trying to handle the appointments primarily over the phone. They have been doing this for several months and it is working well. THE SCHEDULE FILLS UP QUICKLY SO CALL FOR AN APPOINTMENT NOW. Last year they ran out of appointments before the end of Open Enrollment!
One of the most stunning signs of Autumn is the changing colors of the leaves. Leaves change their colors in response to chilly temperatures and less light (as days begin to shorten). They stop producing chlorophyll, the green pigment that helps leaves capture sunlight for photosynthesis. As green fades, the leave’s other pigments such as the orange and yellow shine through. Vibrant red hues are the result of anthocyanins, pigments that are produced in the fall.
