We can’t go on any trips this year, so I will be putting some websites here in our column for those who have a computer. You will be able to take virtual tours or at least have some entertainment. This week you need to go to YouTube.com and check out Longwood Gardens, “Fly Through the Conservatory” in Kennett Square, PA. You can also check out “Expedition Everest: The Mission.” I hope you enjoy these.
It’s that time of year again. Medicare Open Enrollment is from October 15th to December 7th. Now is your chance to review your coverage and compare it to other options. Over the next few weeks, be looking for information from your current plan, Medicare, or Social Security. Be on the lookout for your new “Medicare & You” handbook. Just remember that plans are not allowed to call or come to your home without an invitation from you.
Call NOW to make an appointment with the SHIP Counselors. You need to call 304-636-4747. Due to the Covid pandemic, they are trying to handle the appointments primarily over the phone. They have been doing this for several months and it is working well. THE SCHEDULE FILLS UP QUICKLY SO CALL FOR AN APPOINTMENT NOW. Last year they ran out of appointments before the end of Open Enrollment!
Puzzles can promote health and wellness. Puzzles often stimulate the problem-solving areas of the brain and can improve brain health. Researchers have found that by completing crossword puzzles, playing challenging games, or doing other puzzle related activities, individuals may be less likely to develop brain plaques that have been tied to Alzheimer’s disease. Puzzles can also boost vocabulary, teach patience, reinforce learning, improve intelligence, reinforce concentration, and improve visual-spatial reasoning. Puzzles are a fun recreational activity that also can boost brain health.
