TUCKER COUNTY SENIORS HOLD PICNIC

On Monday, August 6, 2018 the Tucker County Senior Citizens held their annual county-wide picnic at the Hendricks Park.

The day began with the group reciting the Lord’s Prayer and saying the Pledge of Allegiance.  Before lunch the group was entertained by the local musical group “Barely Able.” This group consists of people playing hammered dulcimers, a lap dulcimer, bass, harmonica, fiddle, acoustic guitar, and Dobro. Meg Buddingh also sang several songs with the group.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., the group was briefly addressed by several guests. The prayer was then given and a delicious meal was enjoyed by the nearly 80 people present. After lunch while the musical group was preparing to play some more, there were numerous door prizes given and the 50/50 drawing was held. The winner graciously donated their winnings back to the Senior Center. The group played for about 15 minutes more followed by more drawings for door prizes.

As the cleanup was being done, a couple of the seniors entertained us with vocals and guitar. The weather was beautiful and many people said this was the best picnic we had had in a long time.
