Heart of the Highlands Trails is hosting a community trail work weekend Saturday and Sunday, August 3 and 4. Meet at 9:30 at the intersection of Route 32 and Canaan Loop Road (Canaan Heights). Tools and instruction will be provided. Volunteers are asked to wear long pants, boots, and gloves. Bring plenty of water and lunch or snacks. RSVP if possible to help us plan, but walk-ins are welcome. Stay for as much or as little of the day that you can share with us.
While we continue to work toward our larger trail connection goals, we are also staying focused on maintaining and improving the existing trails. Some great work has been happening out there this summer thanks to our trail crew leader and a few hard-working AmeriCorps volunteers. This weekend we’ll be working on 1.2 miles of the Plantation Trail between Fire Trail 6 and the Davis Trail clearing brush, cleaning water diversions and reinforcing tread. Lots of help is needed on this one – spread the word and bring a friend.
