Central West Virginia Aging Services Health Fair and Flu Clinic which will be Thursday, Sept. 27 at 8 North Spring St. in Buckhannon from 8 a.m. to noon. Lab work and flu shots at a discounted rate. Free goody bag and refreshments will be served.

Movie Night Monday at Five Rivers Public Library, Monday, August 27, at 6 p.m.

Five Rivers Public Library ~ Free Community Event. Mr. Church tells the story of a unique friendship that develops when a little girl and her dying mother retain the services of a talented cook – Henry Joseph Church. What begins as a six month arrangement instead spans into fifteen years and creates a family bond that lasts forever.

Saturday, August 25, 9 p.m. Voyages in the Valley, Constellation Walk. Join Ranger Ted Hodson at Freeland Boardwalk for a constellation walk. We will discuss the stories behind the constellations and show you how to find constellations in the night sky. Meet at the Visitor Center.

History Alive Presentation: Gabriel Arthur

Friends of Blackwater is sponsoring a presentation Sunday September 2 at 3 p.m. at the pavilion in Thomas City Park. Presenter Doug Wood will tell the story of Gabriel Arthur, a frontiersman who was the first white man to see the Kanawha River Valley in 1674. History Alive presentations are a program of the West Virginia Humanities Council.
