Saturday, January 18, 8 a.m., Early Winter Bird Walk. I don’t know if there’ll be snow, but some birds will be here. We never know who will appear for our Freeland boardwalk winter walks, from year-round residents such as Wilson’s Snipe and Golden-crowned Kinglets, to winter visitors such as Rough-legged Hawks. If you’re curious, meet Casey Rucker at the Refuge visitor center at 8 a.m.; binoculars are available. Please note: If the weather is snowy and windy, or roads are impassable, the walk will be postponed until the next day at the same time. If bad conditions continue on the next day, the walk will be cancelled.
