Free Dinner

FREE – Soup (chili or brown bean), cornbread, fruit tray at the Davis U.M. Church, Saturday, Feb. 17, from noon to 4 p.m. Eat in or carry out. Donations welcome.

Historic Landmark Commission meeting

The Tucker County Historic Landmark Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 4 p.m. on the second floor of the former National Bank of Davis building.

Guatemala Mission Benefit Concert

Maple Grove Assembly of God, in Eglon, will be hosting a Guatemala Mission Benefit Concert featuring Steve Smith from the Steve Smith Band on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. Admission is by donation, for information call Pastor Ryan Miller at 301-501-8961.

Cardboard and Duct Tape Sled Racing

Blackwater Falls State Park will hist the sixth annual Duct Tape and Cardboard Sled Race. The theme is Looney Tunes. Awards will be given for best design and team spirit. Registration at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24. Fee is $1 for each sled. For information call 304-259-5216.

Mountain Dancer

Blackwater Falls State Park presents, Lou Maiuri, the Mountain Dancer in Blackwater Falls Lodge on Saturday, February 17 at 8 p.m. This event is open to the public at no cost. All ages are welcome.

Food Handler’s Training Classes

Tucker County Health Department will be conducting Food Handler’s Training Classes at the Senior Center in Parsons, on Wednesday, February 21at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Those persons attending the class will be issued a food handler’s permit which will be good for two years. A $10 registration fee will be collected upon admittance. The classes will start promptly and late arrivals will not be admitted.

Storytime

Storytime – Tracks in The Snow will be at 10 a.m. on Feb. 16. Volunteers will read one or more storiesto children to help them understand all the fascinating things about some feature of our natural world. Meet at the Refuge Visitor Center.

Baked Steak Dinner

Peabody & Wanda’s Famous Baked Steak Dinner, 4-6 p.m. Saturday, February 17, First United Methodist Church of Parsons, $10 adults, $60 Kids 10 & under. Dinner includes 6 oz. steak, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, applesauce, roll, and dessert. Drinks included with dine-in orders. Carry-out orders available: 304-478-2944. Proceeds Benefit Living Hope High School Student Mission Fund.

Lenten Fish Fry

Lenten Fish Fry will be Friday, February 16, at Our Lady of Mercy Social Hall 7 p.mm. Meal includes 8oz. Fish Fillet, Mac & Cheese, Green Beans, Cole Slaw, Dinner Roll, Fruit Salad, coffee and punch for $8. Eat in or carry out, at both locations.

Community Church Fellowship Lenten Lunch Services

Community Church Fellowship Lenten Lunch Services will be on Thursday, February 15 with worship, special singing, a brief message by the host pastor, and a free soup and sandwich lunch following the service. The luncheons will be at 12:05 p.m., each Thursday from February 15 – March 22, at the Parsons Presbyterian Church and will rotate speakers from the various churches of the community. The schedule for the speakers will be: Rev. Philip Dent (St. John’s UMC) – February 15, Rev. David Snyder (Parsons Church of God) – February 2, Rev. William Brown (First UMC) – March 1, Rev. Daniel Geohagan (Parsons Presbyterian Church) – March 8, Rev. Sue Metzner (Hambleton/Hendricks UMC) – March 15, Rev. James Snyder (Riverview Church) – March 22. A donation plate for funds to benefit the Parsons Ministerial Association will be at the entrance-way of the church. All are invited.
