- Saturday, July 7, 7 a.m., High Elevation Bird Walk. Join Herb Myers at the visitor center. We will drive to the top of Forest Road 80 and walk along the ridge of Cabin Mountain looking for our feathered friends.
- Saturday, July 7, 3 p.m., Valley Vibes: Forestry Management. Join Biologist Dawn Washington at the visitor center for a talk about Forest Management and the tools the refuge uses to ensure a healthy forest.

TC Retired School Employees Meeting July 12
The Tucker County Association of Retired School Employees monthly meeting will be at noon on Thursday July 12 at Little Andi’s Restaurant. All retirees are invited to attend. Discussions will include insurance and benefits. Any willing workers please be there at 11 a.m. to help with mailings for this new year.
Old Growth Forest Hike
Join Friends of Blackwater and naturalist Doug Wood to learn about old growth forests. We will start off with a short educational talk at 10 a.m. at the Harold Walter Nature Center (near Pendleton Lake) in Blackwater Falls State Park, then head out for a hike to learn how to identify old growth. We expect the whole event to take roughly two hours.
Snow Sports Museum of West Virginia
will introduce the inaugural Board of Directors at an event featuring Kathy Hayes Historian of the Ski Club of Washington DC on Saturday, July 14 at 3 p.m. at Black Bear Resort Lodge Mrs. Hayes will provide a historical description of the SCWDC’s operation of the Cabin Mountain Ski Area and the associated Winter Carnivals. Refreshments provided.
