The following criminal complaints were filed in the Tucker County Magistrate Court:
Jerald Lee Jones, Parsons, was charged with one felony count of wanton endangerment and three misdemeanor counts of obstructing an officer; assault on an officer and domestic assault. The complaint states that on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at approximately 9:09 p.m. Cpl. J.E. Kopec, of the West Virginia State Police, received a call from Tucker 911 in reference to a domestic dispute in progress involving a firearm. The victim, Megan Ann Jones, was alleging that the accused, Jerald Lee Jones, was threatening suicide and shot twice into the air in an attempt to make her believe that he had shot himself. The victim stated to 911 that the defendant had pointed the firearm at her. Kopec arrived on scene and the defendant was in the passenger seat of her vehicle pulling out of the driveway. Kopec and Tucker County Sheriff’s Deputy C.A. Teter detained Jones while doing so he allegedly became verbally abusive with Kopec threatening him. Jones resisted while being searched for weapons by pulling away and would not cooperatively allow himself to be placed in the State Police cruiser. Kopec obtained a statement from Mrs. Jones confirming that Jones had allegedly pointed a rifle in her direction stating that if it had went off it would have shot her in the abdomen. Kopec recoved two fired shell casings from the outside porch and doorway. He recovered the rifle used, which was a 30-30 lever action rifle, which was loaded. He recovered one unfired bullet from Jones’ pocket. Jones was arrested and transported to the Parsons Police Detachment then to the Tygart Valley Regional Jail. He is under a cash bond of $3,000 for the misdemeanor charges and a $7,000 cash bond for the felony charge. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 13 at 3 p.m. before Magistrate Riley H. Barb.
