The following criminal complaint has been filed in the Tucker County Magistrate office:
- David Lee Close has been charged with Domestic Battery. According to the criminal complaint, Deputy C.A. Teter responded to a call on Saturday, Dec. 14 at approximately 3 a.m. to a residence along Smokey Hollow Road. Upon arrival Teter spoke with Samantha Close. She stated that her husband, David Lee Close, had found out some bad news about himself and he was not dealing well with it. He started yelling and verbally abusing her. He then grabbed food from the microwave and threw it on her. He then started choking her and the attack proceeded into the dining area where a shelving unit was knocked over. She was able to get away from Close and he left the residence. Also according to the criminal complaint, Close had a prior conviction for Domestic Assault and therefore is prohibited from possessing firearms. Teter took two firearms from the residence. It is noted in the criminal complaint that Close came to the Tucker County Sheriff’s office to provide a statement, at which time he blew a .175% on the P.B.T. so Teter did not take a statement from the subject at that time.
