The following criminal complaints have been filed in the Tucker County Magistrate office:

Gary Ray Bonnell was charged with one felony count Strangulation, one felony count Suffocation, one count Asphyxiation and one count of Battery. According to the complaint, on Sunday, Oct. 5, Cpl. C.R. Summerfield of the Tucker County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) was dispatched by Tucker County Communications (911) for an active altercation. 911 advised that it was a physical altercation and someone was actively being choked. A few moments later 911 advised that the aggressor had fled the scene in a white Ford SUV. Summerfield and Trooper R.K. Stewart of the West Virginia State Police (WVSP) located said vehicle on Billings Ave. in Parsons. Summerfield stopped the vehicle and asked the driver if he was involved in a fight. The driver, later identified by his WV Operators to be Gary Bonnell, stated that he was involved in a fight. Summerfield requested the suspect to step out of the vehicle and asked what had happened. The suspect stated that he was going to his girlfriend’s house, while there a male subject approached him with a knife in his hand. The suspect further stated that two females approached him with objects in their hands. He stated that he hit the male in the face one time in self-defense. Officers spoke with the male subject who stated that the suspect arrived at his residence and began yelling at one female, he said he approached the suspect and was struck in the face several times. He further stated that the suspect pinned him to the ground and proceeded to choke him yelling, “I am going to kill you.” The male subject stated that the suspect placed both hands around his throat for approximately five to six seconds. He said pain during the strangulation was a seven out of 10. He was unable to breathe or talk while the suspect was strangling him. Trooper Stewart obtained photographic evidence of the marks/redness on his neck along with redness/abrasions on his back. The male subject stated that he felt nauseous after the incident and noticed to have a raspy voice or “tickle” in his throat. He stated that one of the females pulled the suspect from him. The female stated that she observed the suspect strike the male and choke him. She also stated that she heard the male struggling to breathe during the strangulation. She also stated that she witnessed the incident take place and observed the suspect strike the male and strangle him. The male denied EMS care.

James Edward Sisler, of Aurora, was charged with one count Grand Larceny. The complaint states that on Wednesday, June 25 at approximately 1 p.m. Trooper R.K. Stewart received a complaint from the victim in reference to him hiring and paying James Edward Sisler to come and extend the basement at his residence. He advised Stewart that he paid the defendant $17,000 via certified check to extend his basement and pay for materials needed to complete said job. He advised the Trooper that he had been in contact with the defendant regarding his basement extension since July 2024. He stated that he and the defendant had agreed to terms over text messages, which he had printed out and provided to the Trooper. He claimed that the defendant had come to his residence and stated that he would need a down payment of $17,000 for materials and provided him with said amount. The defendant said that he would work on said project, took the money and never returned and finished the job. He advised that when the defendant came to his residence, he told the victim that he would need to hire another contractor to dig the hole because he did not have the proper equipment. On Monday, July 14 Stewart went to the victim’s residence to photograph the unfinished work and he observed an already dug hole beside the residence, said hole was filled with water and mud. The victim stated that he had hired a separate contractor to dig the hole in preparation for the services the defendant was supposed to provide. On Monday, Aug. 25 Stewart obtained a search warrant for the defendant’s bank account and on Tuesday, Aug. 26 the warrant was served for the bank account. On Wednesday, Aug. 27 he received the records which showed a deposit of $18,500 on Sept. 9. Said deposit indicates that the defendant deposited the victim’s certified check on that day.

Evan James Coleman, was charged with one felony count of Failure to Register, one count of Driving while license suspended and one count False information. According to the complaint, on Sunday, Sept. 27, at approximately 8 a.m. Sr. Trooper R.S. Musgrave was dispatched by Tucker 911 to a single vehicle roll-over at 2490 Brooklyn Heights Road. At approximately 8:16 a.m. Musgrave arrived on scene and made contact with the driver, who was subsequently identified as Evan Coleman. The officer was advised by Coleman he did not have a driver’s license. After running background, Musgrave observed the status of the license to be suspended at that time. At the same time the defendant’s information also came back in NCIC as “sex offender.” Musgrave verbally confirmed this with the defendant who stated that he had only been in Tucker County for a “couple of days.” At this time, Musgrave spoke with a witness who stated that the defendant had been staying in a spare cabin at the campground since Wednesday, Sept. 17 and provided the officer with him and one of the defendant’s relatives dated Monday, Sept 15. In the text with the relative was asked if he (Coleman) was still coming Tuesday night and the relative replied Wednesday morning (Sept. 17). The defendant traveled to the WVSP Parsons Detachment on Wednesday, Oct. 1 in an attempt to register. Musgrave was advised by Trooper Stewart that the defendant stated he had only been in Tucker County since Sept. 24. Coleman’s last day to register in this state would have been Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Jonathan Taylor Martin was charged with one count Domestic Battery and one count Domestic Assault. According to the complaint on Sunday, Oct. 12 at approximately 6:55 p.m. Trooper R.K. Stewart received a call from Tucker County 911 in reference to a domestic at 812 Thomas Ave. located in Davis. He was advised that the male subject later identified as Johathan Taylor Martin, had gotten into an argument during the custody exchange of their three-year-old son. The victim advised that her and Martin had gotten into an argument and he had become physical towards her. She advised that he had put his hands around her neck and forced her onto the couch and allegedly stated, “I am this close to punching you in the face right now.” She advised that she did kick him to get away and then he had grabbed her phone and began to beat it against the sink to break it. She said that at this time a cup had fallen into the sink and busted and he had cut his hand on the glass. She stated that she exited the residence through the rear door and he also exited the residence with their son and began walking down Thomas Ave. She tried to follow him and he went down an alley and she lost sight of them. Stewart and Cpl. C.R. Summerfield, of the Tucker County Sheriff’s Department attempted to locate him but was unsuccessful. At this time more units were dispatched to aid in the search. He was later located at the Trailhead Coffee Shop in Davis. Due to the totality of these circumstances Martin was placed under arrest for Domestic Assault and Domestic Battery. He was medically cleared by EMS in reference to the cut on his hand, then transported by Patrolman First Class N.C. Gidley of the Parsons Police Department to the WVSP Parsons Detachment for processing then on to the TVRJ.

Jonathan Taylor Martin, was charged with one felony count Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute. The complaint states that on Sunday, Oct. 12 at approximately 11:50 p.m. Trooper R.K. Stewart obtained a search warrant through the Tucker County Magistrate Court for the property located at 812 Thomas Ave. in Davis. He was investigating a domestic violence incident earlier on that date. He was advised that an altercation had started during a custody exchange of a 3-year-old male. Said altercation was between Martin and the mother of the child. Stewart spoke with her and she stated that her and Martin had gotten into a physical altercation. She said she exited the residence through the rear entrance and Martin did the same with the child, then walked down Thomas Ave and disappeared from her sight. She said she believed Martin was in the residence with the child. Stewart, Sgt. V.J. Pyles, Senior Trooper C.A. Hawkins, and Cpl. C. Summerfield (TCSO) entered the residence in an attempt to locate Martin and the child. Upon entry Stewart observed a large Marijuana Growing Operation. He and the other officers involved DID NOT continue searching and vacated the residence. Stewart obtained a search warrant through the Tucker County Magistrate Court to seize all items associated with said marijuana grow. Stewart, Pyles, Trooper G.P. Hahn, Sgt. T. Zirk Cpl. C. Summerfield and Deputy B. Gidley, (TCSO) seized 120 plants, several large bags of “finished product” (said finished product was in vacuum sealed bags), three firearms, a grow ledger and several misc. items associated with the growing operation. Said items are subject, but not limited to, grinders, smoking devices, scales, vacuum seal bags and machine, etc. Said items were placed into temporary evidence at the WVSP Parsons Detachment.

Leslie Marie Jamerson, was charged with one felony count Removal, injury to or destruction of property. According to the complaint, on Tuesday, Oct. 7 Sheriff J.E. Kopec (TCSO) received a destruction of property complaint in Thomas. Kopec and C.R. Summerfield responded and met with Mayor Flanagan at Thomas City Hall. Summerfield obtained a handwritten and signed statement from Flanagan that summarized that they had discovered a wall along with other buildings in town to be vandalized with graffiti. He stated that he had sent out a mass alert and letters to citizens requesting any information. An individual came into City Hall and stated that the individuals involved had purchased the paint from their store. The estimated cost to repair the damages to the city property is approximately $3,000. Flanagan directed the officers to Ash Alley in Thomas where they observed a large area of the wall to be covered with paint along with the names, Leslie and Cody. They observed additional paintings on the stairs between Ash Alley and WV 32. He next directed the officers to a walkway between 234 and 242 East Ave. where they observed the buildings on each side of the walkway to be vandalized. Included in the paintings in a Tic Tok account name where the officers again observe the names Leslie and Cody. It was discovered that these two buildings are owned by separate victims. Later that same day Summerfield located a Facebook account and posted to this account is video of Cody and Leslie purchasing the paint. The two subjects walk from the store to a walkway between two brick buildings. Both subjects are observed painting designs that Summerfield discovered on the buildings mentioned above. The paintings and names on the wall on Ash Alley are consistent with the ones on the buildings. Upon further investigation Summerfield identified the suspects as Cody Foster and Leslie Jamerson.

These incidents occurred in Tucker County and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law.
