Parsons City Chief of Police, W.R. Rowe, reports that a telephone scam is hitting the area. According to Rowe, late night calls are coming in to individuals who are impersonating a 911 operator.
The caller states that a hang-up call has come into the 911 center from this home phone. When the individuals question this call the caller states that they are a 911 operator and a police officer will soon arrive at that location.
Do not open the door for anyone. This is not Tucker County 911 making these calls, so be aware and do not give out any personal information to these individuals.
Be advised to hang up and report these calls to Tucker County 911 because it is believed to be in association with break-ins in the area.
