Additional Notes : The new fiscal year begins July 01, 2022 taxes will start being collected on Friday, July 15, 2022. Changes in legislation have restructured the way the tax sales will be done as to properties sold on the courthouse steps for nonpayment of taxes. One of the key changes is that the 18-month redemption after sale of a property with unpaid taxes has been eliminated. So, what that means is if you don’t pay your property taxes and your property is sold on the courthouse steps for back taxes as soon as the new buyer obtains a deed, they own the property. More details in reference to this change in legislation will be forthcoming but if there are questions about this feel free to call the office at 304-478-2321.
This monthly report has been prepared by Sheriff “Jake” Kopec for educating the public as to how their tax dollars are being put to use at the Tucker County Sheriff Office.
