Announcing the marriage of Sheila C. Rice of Elkins to John R Marshall of Cloudcroft, NM on July 27, 2013 in the village of Cloudcroft, New Mexico. John and Sheila were united in marriage in the Sacramento Mountains Historical Society’s Log Chapel built in 1899 by the El Paso and Northeastern Railroad by Judge Ted McCutcheon a longtime friend of the Marshall family. Participating in the ceremony were Timothy and Patrick Marshall, who handed John and Sheila their rings, Sara Erwin who read a poem titled, “These Hands“, and Amanda Marshall who attended the guest book. David and Mary Serna friends of the Marshall family hosted the wedding celebration at their home in High Rolls, New Mexico. John and Sheila will spend a belated honeymoon in Ireland and England later this fall.
Sheila is the owner of Iveagh Trust in Elkins and Granville Manor in Parsons. John will be retiring from Sierra Blanca Motors in Ruidoso, New Mexico. The couple will be moving back to Elkins in the near future.
Sheila is the daughter of the late Loren and Mary (Sis) Wiseman and has three daughters, Nicole Hudson of Parsons, Shannon Amorese of Elkins, and Chelsea Rice of Morgantown. A granddaughter Aryssa Hudson, a great granddaughter, Nyah, both of Fairmont.
John is the son of the late Marvin and Rose Mary Marshall and has six children, Andrew and wife Jen, of Alexandria, Va., Timothy and wife Amanda of Cloudcroft, N.M., Patrick of Cloudcroft, N.M., Peter of Abilene, Texas, Sarah and husband Coy Erwin and two grandsons, Jacob and Brennan of Silverthorne, Col., and Grace and husband Ryan and grandson Sean Ryan of Dillon, Mont.
John and Sheila were friends in their teenage years and were reconnected via facebook after 43 years. John was married to the late Patricia “Tritty” Kelly Marshall of N.Y.
The Marshall’s will host a celebration later in September for friends and family at their home on the Arnold Hill Road, in Elkins, WV.
