HORSESHOE – St. George, WV – Middle School teens from throughout West Virginia came together at the Horseshoe Leadership Center June 22 – 28 to sharpen their teamwork and communication skills at the group’s annual Leadership Summit.
Among the topics covered during the week-long conference were building confidence, trustworthiness, caring, service learning, leadership, and raising money for their local youth organization. The teens also discussed their influence in domestic and international policy. Students also take part in traditional outdoor camp activities and enjoy family-style meals in the Horseshoe dining hall. It’s a memorable week for those who take part. In the words of one, “I am so thankful to have the opportunity to come to Horseshoe. I learned about leadership and teamwork. I met a lot of new people and had a lot of fun. This experience will definitely be remembered. Hopefully I will be able to come back next summer.”
Leadership Summit sponsors include local Lions, Rotary, Kiwanis, and Ruritan Clubs, churches, community foundations/organizations, the Ohio-West Virginia YLA, corporations, individual and private donors.
