The Fairview Cemetery Organization held its 49th Homecoming on June 29, 2025, at the Good Tidings Church Pavilion on Location Road in St. George, WV. A short business meeting followed a picnic lunch and time of fellowship.
Kaylee Anne Nedrow read the names of loved ones who have passed away since June 30, 2024. They were Roberta Ann Knotts, Clint Jones, Linda Canfield, Larry Knicley, Kenny Hardy, George Nine, Marguerite Nine, Lorena Hebb, Louise Lipscomb, Marilyn Thompson, Mary Jane Stemple, Rev. Lane Lee, Rose Burns, Robert Nine, Mike Lipscomb, and Jim Bowley II. A moment of silence was observed followed by prayer. Members of our group were greatly blessed by the lives of these precious people and we will forever cherish their memory.
The oldest lady present was 89 year old Betty Knicley of Parsons, West Virginia, whose birthdate is March 2,1935. The oldest man attending was 86 year old Dan Carr of Parsons, who was born on May 29,1939. Also from Parsons, Jonathon and Samantha Blamble’s son, Ridgely Colt was the youngest boy attending with his parents and sisters Kenley and Everly. Ridgely is seven months old and was born Nov. 7, 2024. Scarlett Levon Campbell turned one year old on May 31, 2025, and was the youngest girl attending with her parents Coty and Paige Campbell and sister Sadie, all of Beverly, West Virginia. Earl Bohon and Jay and Jolean Haught Kisner traveled the farthest to attend, about 260 miles from Cleveland, Ohio. Earl and Jolean are former residents of Location Road. Gifts given consisted of beautiful handcrafted baskets, made and donated by Ralph and Narel Hebb; local honey from Mountain State Honey Company in Parsons; WV seedless blackberry preserves, WV seedless raspberry jelly, WV pumpkin butter from Gifts to Go in Parsons; beautiful child themed flannel quilts made by Vickie Mason, “Yesterdays Stitches Today” of Parsons; and “Bread of Heaven” Fairview Homecoming cookbooks.
Next year will be the 50th Anniversary meeting and a 50th Anniversary Fairview Cemetery cookbook fundraiser is planned for that Homecoming. Your favorite recipes are needed and they can be sent to Bonnie Knotts, 3746 Location Road, Parsons, WV 26287, or emailed to bonnieknotts76@gmail.com . You can include a special note about your recipe or have in memory of someone. The deadline to submit your recipes is August 31, 2025. The cookbooks will be ready at our 50th Anniversary Homecoming.
