Alford selected Solid Waste Authority Chairman

Members of the Tucker County Solid Waste Authority select Jim Alford as Chairman and Matt Quattro as Vice Chairman during the Board of Directors meeting Tuesday.

DAVIS – Tucker County Solid Waste Authority Board of Directors appoint Jim Alford to serve as Chairman and Matt Quattro as Vice Chairman during their first meeting of the year Tuesday.

Other members of the board include Alan Tomson, Diane Hinkle and Brent Easton.

The monthly tonnage for December 2016 increased 15.74 percent over December 2015 and the reports indicated an increased in tonnage of 5.8 percent from this fiscal year verses last fiscal years.
Steven Moore, Tucker County Landfill Manager, said he will be meeting with the first place winner of the West Virginia Recycles Youth Contest. He said the winner attends school in Tucker County.

TCSWA Accountant Milan Nypl met with board members to talk about their budget. Nypl presented the group with three prospective budgets for members to use to formulate their final budget.
The Board scheduled a work session to go over and formulate a new budget using the prospective budgets presented by Nypl. TCSWA will conduct a work session at 3 p.m. Jan. 11 at their office to work on the proposed budget.

Moore said the leachate total for December was 733,429 gallons removed which represents an increase of 39 percent over last December’s total.

The Tucker County Solid Waste Authority meets at 3 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the TCSWA Office at 284 Landfill Road in Davis. An agenda of each meeting is posted on at the office and at the Tucker County Courthouse.

The next Tucker County Solid Waste Authority meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m. Jan. 17.
