The annual Ruth and Arthur Lipscomb Reunion was held August 20 2016 at the Ferrell Camp in Leadmine with over 110 people in attendance.
Our family suffered another loss with the passing of Gary Dean Lipscomb who passed away in June. Gary Dean was the son of Gary and Lynn Lipscomb of Parsons and Grandson of Ruth and Arthur. In Gary’s memory his family had periwinkle colored (which represents awareness of Esophageal Cancer) wrist bands that said “Playing Through It” made and was passed out to everyone to wear. Gary Dean’s sister Punkin (Lorri) also organized getting T-Shirts made that said “Lipscomb Strong” made up in his favorite color. Also Prizes were awarded to the following: Oldest male and female in attendance went to – Rosalea (86)and Clayton Knotts (85). Youngest girl – Cali Sallis (9 weeks) and the great-great-great granddaughter of Ruth and Arthur. The Youngest boy – Wyatt Abrams – 2 months and the great- great grandson of Ruth and Arthur. The “Littlest” Lipscomb went to Addilyn Lipscomb – 11 Months. Addilyn is the daughter of Cameron and Lindsay, Granddaughter to Tina and (late) Gary Dean, Great-Granddaughter to Gary and Lynn and Great-Great Granddaughter to Ruth and Arthur. The longest Married went to Gary and Lynn (55 yrs) and newest went to their granddaughter Calla (Lipscomb) and Joseph Bohlman (3 months) .
The days events concluded with lighting Chinese lanterns in memory of loved ones who have passed, sitting around the camp fire visiting and catching up and ending with the traditional trip to the family cemetery at midnight.
