ArtSpring has been continuously promoting Tucker County Arts and now it has opened its own art space at Cottrill’s Opera House in Thomas. Currently, the new ArtSpring art space is hosting its first Invitational Exhibit featuring artwork by 17 local and regional artists and includes painting, printmaking, assemblage, photography, handmade paper, collages, weavings, installation art, weaving and pottery.
The ArtSpring exhibit is open to the public Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Nov 10th. The public is also invited to attend the exhibit’s Closing Reception held in conjunction with the Thomas Art Walk on Nov 10th at 6 p.m. Join the Art Walk to meet the artists and explore the myriad of Thomas galleries and art spaces.
ArtSpring needs your artwork! The next exhibit being planned is a juried exhibit to open November 17th. The theme of the new exhibit is winter. The paintings, prints, drawings, weavings, sculpture, assemblages, etc. should evoke the idea of winter. Art work is due by November 12th. The artwork will be displayed among winter artifacts from the newly formed WV Snow Sports Museum. Perspective for the juried exhibit will be posted on the ArtSpring websitewww.artspringwv.com
Most know ArtSpring as a festival held throughout the county on Memorial Day weekend. It also hosts additional arts events offered throughout the year. This October 25th at 7:30 p.m. will be ArtSpring at the Billy. The Billy is located in Davis. This event will feature the poet Bob Wickless. He has published his poems in many magazines and journals such as O Henry, Southern Poetry Review, Antioch Review to name a few. An ArtSpring Music Showcase is planned for December 7th , 7:00 p.m. at the Purple Fiddle in Thomas. This winter art classes will begin to be offered at the ArtSpring space at the Cottrill Opera House in Thomas. Join the email list or check the website to find out more.
Currently, ArtSpring is seeking a Program Coordinator. Bruce Wilson, ArtSpring President says that the Program Coordinator will be a part-time contractual position; the salary is negotiable.
