The Tucker County-based Blackwater Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will be hosting a “bell ringing” event on the steps of the Tucker County Courthouse in Parsons on Wednesday, September 17 at 4 PM. This activity will involve simultaneous, one-minute bell-ringing across the United States at exactly 4:00 PM Eastern Time, commemorating the church bells that rang in Philadelphia when the US Constitution was signed in 1787.

The DAR initiated this annual tradition as part of their broader effort to encourage the study and preservation of the Constitution.

The ringing of the bells will begin precisely at 4:00 PM and will last for one minute. Area churches are invited to ring their church bells during this time.

The public is invited to attend and to take part in this activity. Please bring a bell. If you do not have one, there will be small ones available for use.
