PARSONS, WV – If you love Bluegrass and helping children, then The Bluegrass Community Fair is the perfect event for you. John and Joyce Bowers wants to raise a lot of money for Special Olympics of Tucker County this weekend, you can help them, while having some fun.
The Bluegrass Community Fair began as a way to further entertain campers that arrived early for Pickin’ in Parsons Bluegrass Festival. But it quickly turned into a fundraising event for the community. It will be held July 26 at Five River Campground. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated..
“Special Olympic games draw attention to children’s abilities rather than their disabilities. These events instill self confidence and pride, which all children need.”, said promoter Joyce Bowers.
The fair gets underway at 9 a.m. with a Tractor and Car Show followed by a Quilt show, Cake Walk, Fair games and activities for all ages until 1p.m. when the Minnie Pearl lookalike contest begins with a talent show following.
And it doesn’t end there. The evening entertainment begins at 5:30 p.m., with The Froggy Mountain Brothers from Tahiti followed by National Recording bluegrass artist, Larry Gillis and Swampgrass .
