First, second and third prize winners will be selected for chicken BBQ, pork BBQ and red chili recipe. Prizes start at $500 cash for first place chicken and pork BBQ dishes and $300 cash for red chili recipe. One winner will be selected in the Verde (green) chili category and one People’s Choice winner will be selected for both chili and BBQ dishes, splitting a 50/50 purse with one lucky spectator each.

“I look forward to this event every year here at Canaan Valley Resort”, explains General Manager David Herscher.” As a backyard barbecue connoisseur myself, this event leaves no doubt as to who the best-of-the-best is in the area. Winners secure bragging rights for a whole year and walk away with some cash to boot.”

Cook and vendor registrations are now being accepted. Call 304-866-4121; ext. 2678 for registration assistance or visit our website at www.canaanresort.com.

As participants prepare their recipes, additional activities have been planned to include West Virginia craft vendors, eating contests, tastings to vote for the People’s Choice awards, swimming, scenic chairlift rides, Turtle Slide tubing, Sporting Clays, DJ entertainment and much more.
