Funding will support recovery of local business in Parsons, W.Va.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $350,000 for the City of Parsons through the U.S. Economic Development Administration. Funding will support infrastructure improvements to a newly established business park that serves area businesses impacted by flooding in 2017.
“When disaster strikes, West Virginians work hard to help their communities and their neighbors recover,” Senator Capito said. “Whether it is through donations or ensuring flood victims continue to have resources they need to rebuild their lives, private-sector leaders are critical partners in these efforts. This funding will help give area businesses in Parsons a location in which they can recover and create new opportunity for West Virginians.”
“This funding from the Economic Development Administration will assist with infrastructure improvements, which are vital to our state, creating and saving jobs in Parsons and investing $350,000 into the community. This grant will help the Parsons Business Park gain sewer service and expand on the $20 million that was recently awarded by the Department of Transportation’s BUILD Grant program to complete the section of Corridor H from Kerens to Parsons. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I have strongly supported these programs and will continue to fight for additional resources that support infrastructure improvement efforts and projects that ignite economic growth in West Virginia,”Senator Manchin said.
