“Christmas Blessings!” abound as the Tucker Community Chorus ushers in the season with its 2019 Christmas Concert Series. The first concert will be presented Sunday, December 1, in Davis at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 3 p.m. The second performance will take place Monday, December 2, in Parsons at the First United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. Both concerts are Free to all people attending.
TCC has performed a wide variety of musical styles over the years, and this season the group promises even more musical surprises. From the traditional carols to contemporary takes on seasonal favorites, this program has it all.
Sandy Shaffer, leads the group of performers . The Sopranos are: Christina Dotson, Ilene Evans, Ellen Shaffer, Sandy Shaffer, Mary A. Mullenax and Theresa Young. Altos are: Karen Cuppett, Nancy Dotson and Priscilla Flanagan. Tenors include: Ian Dotson and Tyler Shaffer. Bass notes are Bill Peterson and Michael Shaffer.
A special treat this year will be musicians-father and son duo: Frank Dotson, Sr. and Frank “Chip” Dotson, Jr. on percussion and keyboard. They will accompany the Joyful Noise ensemble in a special arrangement of “Born In Bethlehem”.
Season greetings are offered up with solos and duets. Ilene Evans gets us swinging to a “Cool Yule”. Mary A. Mullenax mixes ancient with modern sacred with “O Sanctissima / O Thou Joyful Day”. Bill Peterson keeps us cozy with “Let It Snow”. Sandy Shaffer and Ellen Shaffer take us back to that first Christmas with “Born In Bethlehem”, while tenor-Tyler Shaffer, plans to present a Special Christmas Selection.
TCC will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items at each concert to benefit our neighbors in need.
