Attending the high school prom is a rite of passage for many young women. It is “the” social event of their high school in which teens spend a lot of time creating their dream evening. For many it is an expectation that is funded by their parents or family. Unfortunately for some young women, whose families struggle financially on a daily basis, attending the prom is only a dream that will not come true.

We at Hospice Care Corporation know that every young woman deserves the opportunity to attend their high school prom looking beautiful on the outside as well as feeling special and empowered on the inside for that one evening. Over the years, Hospice Care Corporation and its’ supporters has helped thousands of young women go to their prom through The Cinderella Project. Proceeds from this event will benefit patient care for Hospice Care Corporation.

The Cinderella Project is a community outreach program that provides teen women with an affordable way to attend their high school prom. New and gently-used prom and formal wear, clothing, shoes, accessories that have been donated for this event are available at low, thrift store prices for young women to purchase.

On Saturday, March 12, 2016, The Cinderella Project will be held at Hospice Care Corporation’s office located at 169 Diamond Street, Elkins. Doors will open at 10 a.m. with a Fashion Show at 11 a.m. with shopping until 2 p.m. Young women from area high schools can attend to shop for their prom attire at low prices starting at $5 for gowns. There will be door prizes and giveaways as well as volunteer personal shoppers to help put together that special look.

To make this a success, donations of age appropriate new and “gently used” gowns and formal dresses, shoes and accessories of all sizes. In-kind donations and door prizes that are needed include: photography services, jewelry, gift certificates for hair and nail services, salon treatments limousines, florists, make up samples as well as promotional support to help us create awareness and support.

Financial support and contributions are also needed. Your financial contributions and support can help us to offset the costs for this event as well as ensuring that we have dresses in sizes and colors that we are in need of. We want to make sure that there is a dress for every teen that walks through our doors.

Also, an army of volunteers are needed to help us collect the donated items, spread the word and assist during the event as personal shoppers for the young women.

Drop off locations include all Hospice Care Corporation offices and Hospice Care Resale Shops. To participate, make a donation or to volunteer call Kim Riley at (304) 864-0884 / 304-376-0545 or toll free at 1-800-350-1161. You may also email her at kriley@hospicecarecorp.org
