The City’s contractor, Safeco Environmental, started demolition on the former P & C Furniture Store at 199 Main Street this morning.  Traffic in that area is being temporarily rerouted.

“We are excited to finally get our demolition projects started in downtown, said City Administrator Jason Myers.  “I want to thank the Mayor and City Council for making demolition a top priority and securing the money to make these projects possible.”  Myers also wanted to thank the Parsons Volunteer Fire Department and the Parsons Police Department for assisting with traffic control.  According to Myers, future use of this lot is unknown at this time.  He indicated that City Council has kicked around a few ideas, but assured that they would put it to good use.
