‘A Festival of Lessons and Carols’ Set for December 7
Elkins – Davis & Elkins College and Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church will present “A Festival of Lessons and Carols” at 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 7 at Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church. The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature a blend of lyrics, hymns and readings, all with the themes of light, hope and the birth of Christ.
Highlighting the evening will be the Davis & Elkins College Concert Choir’s performance of two works – “Cradle Hymn Opus 101” and “Tomorrow Shall be My Dancing Day Opus 100” – composed, directed and accompanied by Davis & Elkins Artist-in-Residence Jack Gibbons. The Choir, under the direction of Liz Marshall-MacVean and accompanied by Donna Baroudi-Huffman will also present “The Christ Child is Born” by Roger Emerson and “Breath of Heaven” by Amy Grant and Chris Eaton, among other selections. Davis & Elkins freshman Mackinzie Smith will perform a solo, “Offering, A Thrill to Remember” by Josh O’Dell.
Additional presenters for the evening include organist, Davis & Elkins President Dr. Michael Mihalyo; Senior Pastor of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church the Rev. Dr. Peter Vial; and Davis & Elkins Benfield-Vick Chaplain and DMPC Associate Pastor the Rev. Kevin Starcher.

A reception will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall. The evening’s offering will go toward the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church Food Pantry.
