Morgantown, W.Va. — CASA for Kids will host its fourth annual fundraising gala on Saturday, March 21, at the Erikson Alumni Center in Morgantown. The event raises critical funds to support Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) for children who have entered the court system due to abuse and neglect.
This year’s theme, “Denim and Diamonds,” promises a bedazzling evening that blends relaxed denim with elegant sparkle, bringing the community together for a night of celebration with a serious purpose. More than 165 people attended last year’s gala, and organizers expect this year’s event to be even larger.
WHAT: “Denim and Diamonds” Gala to Benefit CASA for Kids WHEN: Saturday, March 21 at 5:30 p.m.
WHERE: Erikson Alumni Center, Morgantown
Each year, hundreds of children in Monongalia, Preston, and Tucker counties find themselves in the court system through no fault of their own. Many are removed abruptly from their homes, schools, and familiar surroundings. CASA for Kids works to ensure these children are not alone during that process by providing them with trained, volunteer advocates who remain a consistent, stable presence as the courts determine safe and permanent outcomes.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) are community volunteers who devote countless hours to advocating for the best interests of abused and neglected children. While social workers, attorneys, and judges may change throughout a case, a CASA volunteer stays with the child – listening, observing, and speaking up solely for that child’s needs.
In many cases, a CASA is the only consistent adult presence in a child’s life during an otherwise chaotic and uncertain time.
CASA for Kids is the only organization providing this vital advocacy service to children in the local court system and is highly regarded by Circuit Court judges and the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The agency continues working to expand its reach with the goal of providing a CASA volunteer for every child removed from their home due to abuse or neglect.
CASA for Kids is fully self-supporting and relies on fundraisers, grants, sponsorships, and community contributions to continue its work.
The “Denim and Diamonds” gala begins with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. for a cocktail hour and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a buffet dinner and evening program. Proceeds from the gala directly support advocacy services for vulnerable children across the region.
Tickets are $110 per person or $180 per couple, with a variety of sponsorship opportunities available. Community members are encouraged to attend, sponsor, or support the event to help ensure that children facing abuse and neglect have a strong, consistent voice advocating for their safety and future.
