The diner formerly known as Little Andi’s, in Parsons, underwent new management and eventual ownership by business partners, Dustin Luzier and Ashley Watts. The duo partner on some other business endeavors in the county, and Watts said, “Me and Dustin talked about it one day and decided to give it a try.” Watts came up with the idea to rename the facility Depot Diner with the rich history of the railroad within the county and the depot being next door.
The menu has changed slightly with adding additional dinner options such as steaks, ribs, and more pasta dishes. New appetizers have also been included with a daily salad bar. A Saturday breakfast buffet has made its debut that has been a popular offering so far. “The first week we did it we had about 50 people,” said Luzier. Whole pies are being baked and offered for purchase upon request in addition to homemade ranch dressing now available. “We’re not trying to compete with anyone,” he said in reference to the other local eateries. They have no intention to offer pizzas, subs, or other items that you can find at other food options within the city. Local deliveries are also a topic for a future endeavor.
“We’re planning on doing some upgrades,” continued Watts. Some areas they hope to address include bathroom renovations, new carpet and lighting, as well as a fresh coat of paint. The diner currently employs 12 individuals with Jennifer Dearborn serving as the manager. “She makes everything easy for us,” said Luzier. “The staff we have now, you couldn’t ask for better people,” said Luzier. Some are newcomers to the restaurant, and some were already established with the former owners.
The Depot Diner also offers extended hours, which Luzier said “People are happy we’re open longer.” New hours include Sunday through Thursday, 6 a.m. until 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.
This family friendly sit down or take out restaurant also offers their back room for reservations for groups, organizations, or even families who wish to call ahead and request a private area of the restaurant. A menu is being planned to be included in a future edition of The Parsons Advocate for the readers to have on hand. Weekly specials are being advertised in the paper as well as on their Facebook page, at “Depot Diner.” They can also be reached via phone at 1-681-399-9200.
