Dominion Energy recently made a $2,500 donation to the annual Tucker County Regional Health Fair to help it continue to bring health screenings to rural West Virginia.
“Our 13th Annual Tucker County Regional Health Fair will be April 28, and we are proud to have Dominion Energy as a supporter for all 13 years,” said Bill Hennessey, executive director of the Mon Health Medical Center Foundation and health fair coordinator.
The health fair, held at Canaan Valley Ski Resort’s Bear Paw Lodge, provides residents from Tucker County and the surrounding region nearly 40 different health screenings and educational opportunities at low cost or free.
“Many of these residents lack health care benefits, are uninsured or underinsured, and have very few health care facilities available to them,” Hennessey said. “Donations from companies such as Dominion Energy help us continue to make the screenings accessible and affordable.”
Among the screenings planned for the 13th Annual Tucker County Regional Health Fair are the multiphasic blood analysis; prostate specific antigen (PSA); thyroid; ultrasounds of the gallbladder, aorta and carotid; bone density and hearing.
The Tucker County Regional Health Fair was founded by Tag Stiles, a former nurse at Mon Health Medical Center. Since Stiles’ retirement, the fair has been coordinated by the Mon Health Medical Center Foundation.
