PARSONS – Officials following up on an anonymous tip found one individual allegedly in possession of marijuana.

William Z. Burkhammer, 18, of 156 Spruce St. in Parsons was charged Tuesday with one count of possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Parsons Police Chief Bill Rowe said he was following up on a lead Tuesday that three young men had entered the baseball field dugout at River City Park. Rowe said he found the trio, and asked them what they were doing, to which they answered nothing.

Rowe said Burkhammer had a backpack, and he asked Burkhammer if he could search the bag.

“Burkhammer said it was okay to search the book bag,” Rowe told the Parsons Advocate Thursday. “In the backpack, I found a red grinder, used to grind drugs, a pill holder and a socket tool with marijuana and marijuana residue in it.”

Rowe said the other two men, both juveniles, were released.
