Dennis Filler of Parsons has been hired by the Tucker County Commission to serve as County Planner. Filler will work closely with the Tucker County Planning Commission in regards to land management and community growth issues. The contract position began November 1.
As Corridor H connects Tucker County with the interstate highway system, it is anticipated that more development and growth will result. Ensuring that our communities have roads, utilities, communications, and sanitation in a structured, environmentally compatible and sustainable way, in cooperation with local community and state guidelines, is the ultimate goal. Filler will work with the County Commission, Tucker County Planning Commission and Development Authority (TCDA), along with other county boards in the managed development of business and community growth within the county.
Filler, who is meeting with various entities and groups within the county to gain as broad a perspective as possible, states, “It is clear that one item that is limiting our growth is accessibility to quality broadband services”. He and Steven Leyh, Executive Director of the TCDA, have agreed to partner to explore options for how this can be improved throughout the county.
Filler can be reached at 681-399-9085 or by email at tuckercountyplanner@gmail.com, or at his office located above Community Corrections at 213 First Street, Suite 201, Parsons. Filler encourages you to contact him with your ideas or concerns regarding the managed growth of Tucker County.
Filler has owned local property in Tucker County since 2006 and he and his wife Joann have permanently resided in Tucker County since 2009. Before his selection as County Planner, Filler worked in a variety of government and industry positions that have prepared him for this new position. His government service culminated in 2015 with joint duties as both the Director of the Federal Aviation Administration William J. Hughes Technical Center in Atlantic City, NJ and as the FAA’s Director of Research.
While still a part-time business consultant, Filler enjoys Tucker County’s outdoor activities. He enjoys flying, hunting, fishing, camping, beekeeping, gardening, music and astronomy. Filler also serves as president of the Five Rivers Library Board.
