On Friday, August the 5th, The Grant County Bank was honored to present the Mountaintop Library with a support check in the amount of $5,000. The check presentation took place at 11 a.m. at the Grant County Bank Canaan Branch and was attended by bank administrators, library staff, library board members, and many of the Friends of the Library group members. The Mountaintop Library staff, Friends of the Library, and the Tucker County Community have all been working arduously to raise funds to build a new library and the Grant County Bank was quick to provide financial support. Currently, the library operates out of a double-wide trailer which limits the library’s ability to provide an array of resources to the surrounding community. Grant County Bank, like the Tucker Community, believes in the power of books and know how important reading and literary resources are for growth and success, thus an investment in Mountaintop Library makes good economic sense. Library users are more likely to graduate from high school, obtain full-time employment, complete post-secondary educational degrees or training programs, and become productive assets to their communities.
Free Mountaintop Library services include book and DVD loans, copier and computer printing, faxing, notary, public computer access with Internet, wireless hotspot, and the use of various office supplies while at the library. Ivonne Martinez is the current librarian at Mountaintop Library and is the ideal leader to spearhead the new library project. She continues to work with the Friends of the Library and other local support groups to try and make this dream a reality. The Grant County Bank is just one of many supporters who have given to this cause. If you’re interested in making a donation or would like to volunteer your time at the library, please contact Ivonne at (304)463—4582 or visit the Mountaintop Library website (http://mountaintop.lib.wv.us) and click on the Contact Us page.
