Davis, WV – Kalie’s Crew marked its 10th year of participation in the Tucker Community Foundation’s Run For It event, raising over $3,500 this year in support of the Kalie Hostutler Ashby Academic Achievement Fund at Garrett College.

This year’s 27-member team included Kalie’s family, friends, colleagues, and runners from the Lightning cross country team. Over the past decade, Kalie’s Crew has raised more than $35,000 through Run For It, helping to continue Kalie’s legacy of supporting local students.

The 2025 race also brought notable achievements for several team members.

Lightning runner Bailey Krisher, daughter of Garrett College Associate Dean of Academic Affairs Zach Krisher, finished as the first female overall and was acknowledged as fastest newcomer.

Teammates Damin Wildesen and Remy Bostic also placed, with Wildesen taking first in his age group and Bostic – son of GC faculty member Joel Bostic – earning second in his age group.

Funds raised through Run For It directly benefit the Kalie Hostutler Ashby Academic Achievement Fund, which annually provides scholarships to incoming Southern Garrett High School graduates attending Garrett College. The most recent recipients were Carly Wilt, Brogan Moyer, and Sophie Sadowski.

Kalie’s Crew runs in memory of Kalie Hostutler Ashby, a Garrett College graduate, staff member, and passionate supporter of local students. The fund created in her honor continues her legacy, according to Fund Chair Kim DeGiovanni.

“Run For It has given us a meaningful way to honor Kalie’s memory while opening doors for students,” said DeGiovanni. “We’re proud to see her light continue to shine through the success of Garrett College students.”

Organized by the Tucker Community Foundation, Run For It is held each fall during the Leaf Peeper’s Festival in Davis. The event combines a 2K walk and 5K run/walk to support nonprofits across West Virginia and Garrett County, Maryland.

Since its founding in 2007, the program has raised more than $3.2 million for community causes.
