ELKINS, WV – Laurel Place recently announced the appointment of Angela Johnson, LSW, to their caregiving team as a Licensed Social Worker.  Laurel Place is an inpatient geriatric behavioral health program at Davis Medical Center in Elkins, WV.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Angela to Laurel Place,” said Program Director, Melissa Kilgore. “She has shown herself to be a true “patient advocate” and displays a high level of compassion and perseverance in her role as Social Worker. We appreciate her greatly for the job she is doing to help our seniors at a time when they need it the most.”

Laurel Place is a 20-bed program for patients 55 and over with acute psychiatric or behavioral disorders.  It is designed for short-term stays, and serves individuals coming from private residences, assisted living centers and nursing homes.  The unit is accredited by The Joint Commission.

Johnson, LSW has 16 years’ experience in the field of social work with distinct knowledge in geriatric discharge planning and the coordination of patient care. In her position with Laurel Place, she will be responsible for providing assessments and case management to patient and families.

“Laurel Place is an excellent place to work.  I am so impressed by the holistic approach to treating older adults undergoing emotional issues and felt like this was a great fit for me,” said Jonson.  “I feel like we have a great team that works well together to meet the needs of our patients, and I love all the aspects of being a social worker serving those that are in need, being their advocate and helping them to achieve success in their lives, those are the things I’m most proud of.”
