Elkins, WV — Sandy Young of HomePlus in Elkins has successfully completed a rigorous process to earn certification as a Durable Medical Equipment Specialist (CDME) from the Board for Certification/Accreditation (BOC).
I’m honored and proud to have earned my CDME certification,” says Young. “Working with patients provides a special kind of satisfaction, knowing that what I have learned is going to help someone else return to their highest quality of life.”
DDME certification is awarded when an individual successfully completes required training and practical experience under supervision, passes a comprehensive examination, and meets nationally-accepted standards of practice. CDME’s demonstrate broad knowledge of the DME industry, helping with basic repairs, troubleshooting, and home inspections for DME products like oxygen, mobility items, and enteral supplies.
“I am proud of Young for achieving this certification. Her knowledge of the Durable Medical Equipment industry has strengthened the company’s ability to serve the community”, says Amy Wyatt, Director.
Young has been an employee of HomePlus for 19 years.
“The goal of the CDME is to acknowledge trained professionals in the industry,” notes Claudia Zacharias, President & CEO of BOC, located in Owings Mills, Maryland. “With the American population spanning five generations, we are seeing people in every age group experience an increased need for DME products and quality care. It is a genuine pleasure to welcome Young as a BOC CDME.”
