PARSONS – An Aurora man’s charges were bound over for consideration by the Tucker County Grand Jury Monday in Magistrate Court. Jeremy C. Watson, 20, 26005 George Washington Highway, is currently housed in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail, after being charged with fleeing in a vehicle while DUI – a felony.
Watson appeared before Tucker County Magistrate Carol Irons and asked that bond be modified from $1,500 cash only to $1,500 personal recognizance. Tucker County Prosecuting Attorney Ray LaMora III said the state opposed the bond modification because of the nature of the charge – fleeing from the police. Irons denied the request for bond modification and found probable cause in the case, turning it over to the Tucker County Grand Jury for consideration.
According to the original criminal complaint, Watson was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed on Nov. 22 down U.S. Route 219 toward Thomas. The complaint alleges police officers attempted to stop Watson’s vehicle, a black Isuzu SUV, and when officials turned on their blue lights and siren, Watson accelerated and fled from police.
Those accused are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty.
