Lisa and David Wilfong’s home on 205 Center Street was selected by the Mountaineer Garden Club for residential Yard of the Month for May 2019. The uniquely themed home reflects a primitive and farmhouse style. Besides the many accouterments such as a 30’s washing machine, galvanized tubs, barrels , and child’s trike on each side of the front porch, the side yard is set up with a focus point of a wagon wheel, picket fence and child’s toy pedal car. All elements are adorned by wave petunias, boxwood, red geraniums.The Hair Haven on Pennsylvania Avenue was selected as Business Yard of the Month actually has no yard, so owner Melissa Sexton had flower boxes made and filled with seasonal beauty such as the Calibrachoa, trailing vines, and wave petunias. She knew how to brighten up the strip mall look.
