Christmas is a time to reflect on the past year and be thankful for your family and friends. Mostly it is to renew Christ in your heart. It saddens me to hear of all the people who will not say “Merry Christmas” anymore. Everyone has to be so aware of not offending anyone that the reason for the season has been forgotten. Momma Said, “If not for Christ there would be no season to celebrate.”
And so many people have forgotten the reason we do celebrate Christmas. The hardships endured by Joseph and Mary on the trip to Bethlehem, and mostly the suffering of Jesus, who died for all our sins. So I will continue to say Merry Christmas not Happy Holidays and if I offend anyone, I am sorry. After all it is Christmas.
This is not the season to spend bunches of money, and then try to outdo the next guy on the amount of presents you get. Everything is so commercialized that is hard to try to teach a small child the real meaning of Christmas. Momma Said, “Too much TV brainwashes children into thinking they have to have every toy that they see.”
We always got a new coat and a pair of winter boots along with a bag of fruit. A small toy of some sort rounded out Christmas for us. We thought we were blessed to get so much. It was a special time for us and a time to visit with family. Please take the time to appreciate your family and the greatest gift you can give is your love.
CHRISTMAS CRACK
INGREDIENTS
3 cups Cheerios
3 cups Rice Chex
3 cups Wheat Chex
1 cups Pretzel Sticks
2-3 cups m&m’s
24 oz White Chocolate (plus an extra 4-8 oz if needed)
INSTRUCTIONS
In a large bowl combine the Cheerios, Chex, Pretzels and m&m’s. Mix them up a bit, making sure that everything is evenly distributed.
Meanwhile, over a double boiler, melt the white chocolate according to the directions on the package.
Once the chocolate has melted and is a smooth consistency, drizzle the chocolate over the cereal mix and combine with a wooden spoon or hands. Make sure all the cereal is covered in chocolate. If you need to melt the extra white chocolate to cover all the mix then go right on ahead!
Once the entire batch has been combined, lay it out to dry on a large sheet of parchment or wax paper. Let dry for 1 hour so the chocolate is cooled and hard. Break it up into medium pieces and store in an airtight container.
