Mon General Hospital has been named as one of “100 Hospitals with Great Orthopedic Programs for 2013” by Becker’s Hospital Review.
“The hospitals included on this list have orthopedic surgery departments, programs or dedicated centers that have earned considerable recognition,” according to the December 2013 Becker’s Hospital Review article.
“Mon General has a highly experienced team of orthopedic surgeons and nursing personnel and, quite frankly, we often take them for granted,” said Mon Health System President and CEO Darryl Duncan. “These people are some of the very best in the country.
“This recognition is well deserved and should demonstrate to the community we serve that when you come to Mon General, you’re at one of the best orthopedic centers in the nation,” Duncan said.
The Becker’s article states that “in light of a 20 percent increase in orthopedic procedures performed at the hospital over five years, Mon General opened a new orthopedic center in 2012. The hospital is home to one of the largest networks of orthopedic surgeons out of any hospital in West Virginia, and more than 3,600 orthopedic procedures are performed there each year. The hospital has been recognized by Blue Cross Blue Shield as a Blue Distinction Center for knee and hip replacements.”
Becker’s Hospital Review features business and legal news and analysis relating to hospitals and health systems. To devise the list, the Becker’s editorial team weighed a variety of rankings and recognitions and conducted research to find the 100 hospitals with great orthopedic programs.
