Murder Suspect Apprehended in Tucker County

On Oct. 1 at 8:03 a.m. Trooper J.J. Cornelius of the West Virginia State Police was dispatched by Tucker County 911 in regard to a male individual in the area of Davis.  The male had flagged down a member of a local fire department and stated that he had been forced to kill three people.  Trooper Cornelius arrived at the Billy Motel located in Davis and made contact with Jeffrey A. Burnham.  The male was identified and subsequently checked through NCIC at the time.  The male was found to be wanted in two separate counties in the state of Maryland for three counts of Murder.  The suspect was placed into custody at that time without incident.  The West Virginia State Police Parsons Detachment is actively assisting the Maryland authorities with this investigation.  If any further details are requested, all media outlets shall contact the Cumberland Police Department and the Howard County Police Department who are the initial reporting/investigating agencies.  The West Virginia State Police was assisted by the Tucker County Sheriff, J.E. Kopec.
