At approximately 6:23 p.m., Oct. 29, the Parsons Volunteer Fire Department, EMS, and law enforcement were dispatched to a fire in the bathroom behind the Wellness 24 Fitness Center.
Parsons City Administrator, Jason Myers said, “Thankfully a bystander quickly secured a fire extinguisher from the Wellness 24 Fitness Center, the fire was extinguished before emergency responders arrived on scene. The fire was contained to a trash can inside the men’s bathroom. A complete damage assessment will be conducted. Law enforcement has located the individual responsible for starting the fire. The individual is believed to be a juvenile. The juvenile subject will be facing numerous charges, one of which will be arson.”
Myers said, “We would like to thank the bystander that acted quickly and extinguished the fire, Tucker County 9-1-1 Communications Center, Parsons Volunteer Fire Department, Tucker County EMS, Tucker County Sheriff’s Department, and West Virginia State Police.”
