Elkins, W.Va., March 4, 2020 – Monongahela National Forest and The Corps Network are now accepting applications for a public affairs assistant position. This six-month internship based in Elkins begins May 18.
The intern will assist the public affairs officer with outreach to local communities and schools, coordinate updates to websites and social media, work with databases and mail lists, provide basic photography and photo editing, and prepare maps using geographic information systems.
The intern will research, write, and edit a variety of communication products for Forest audiences and partners. The position requires advanced oral and written communication skills, interest in conservation and natural resources, and a bachelor’s degree in communication or a related field.
After completing the internship and meeting program requirements, the intern may become eligible for the direct hire and noncompetitive hiring authority through a two-year certificate of eligibility.
