Strategy in building, funding performing arts center impressed firm

McHenry, MD – Railey Realty recently celebrated the completion of its multi-year gift that named a recital hall in the Performing Arts Center at Garrett College.

A team of Railey partners and employees met at the PAC for a photo with Garrett College and Garrett College Foundation officials. Rich Orr, former partner and vice president at Railey Realty, said the community-focused company was impressed with two key components of the PAC project.

“We liked how this fund was to be used to take care of the property forever,” said Orr, noting the campaign fund was set up as an endowment to address ongoing facility needs.

“The second thing that caught our eye was that the project would be utilizing a former building [the old college gymnasium] and then adding onto the existing structure,” added Orr.

Railey partner Jon Bell said Railey Realty was “happy to support the community that supports our company.” Bell said he also realized the value of the facility to the community.

“To be in this small town and have this kind of facility is just amazing,” said Bell.

Cherie Krug, executive director of the Garrett College Foundation, said she identified Railey Realty as a great match for the recital hall naming opportunity.

“I told Rich at the time, ‘You really need to do this,’ ” recalled Krug.

“Railey Realty shared the vision that we had for this project,” said Dr. Richard Midcap, Garrett College’s president. “I appreciate that shared vision as well as the generosity Railey Realty has shown to the College and the Foundation.”
