In the morning hours of May 6, Parsons Volunteer Fire Department was alerted by Tucker 911 of two missing hikers in the Otter Creek wilderness area of Tucker County. The individuals were found to be safe around 11 a.m. and returned to their point of origin by PVFD Search and Rescue team. Parsons VFD worked with WV State Police and Tucker 911. Also assisting were Elkins FD and Leading Creek VFD who sent crews in from Randolph County. With more visitors using the recreation opportunities on this end of the county this type of incident is becoming frequent. It is crucial that we maintain the skills and equipment to have a positive outcome. Also the working relationship that we have with other entities is extremely important and must be maintained to provide a high level of service.
