The decision has been made to make this year’s Run For It Event a virtual event for the safety of the teams, racers, walkers, staff and volunteers because of the growing concern over the increase in Covid-19 in our region.
Run For It may be virtual this year, but the purpose is still the same – to raise awareness and support for non-profits, civic organizations and other charities throughout a seven-county region of W.Va. (Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Pocahontas, Preston, Tucker and Randolph) and Garrett County, Md.
The Tucker Community Foundation challenges participants to raise team support for the community cause of their choice during the Virtual Run For It 2021 campaign and then run or walk for that cause in a 2k/5k event during the month of September.
During these challenging times, the Tucker Community Foundation is changing up the rules on Run For It. We encourage nonprofit organizations to set up their fundraising page and share it with potential donors. You can add information about your organization’s programs and needs during this crisis and beyond.
The registration cost is $10. Individuals or teams can register online at raceroster.com/47023 or visit www.tuckerfoundation.net/run to download an entry form, team registration or event packet. Racers can pre-register up to September 30 and join a team.
Run For It raises money and support for the racer or walker’s community cause of choice. Half of entry fees, 100 percent of team sponsor donations, and 100 percent of race day awards are distributed to the cause represented.
More than 100 cash awards are given to team charities that raise the most awareness and support along with demonstrating the best effort. We encourage nonprofit organizations to form teams and enlist sponsors for the team’s cause. If a group needs help setting up a team or has questions about how to register or how to leverage funds, please contact us. We’re happy to help.” Just call, 304-478-2930, or send us an email, jeff@tuckerfoundation.net or mike@tuckerfoundation.net
The Tucker Community Foundation manages more than 140 endowed funds providing annual scholarships and grants to nonprofits and charitable causes throughout the eight-county service area.
