100 percent of donations will support local kids

ALTOONA, Pa. (June 28, 2018) – Sheetz is pleased to announce beginning on July 1, all of its 575 store locations will host a month of in-store fundraising to support the programs of Sheetz For The Kidz, with 100 percent of all customer donations going directly to supporting local children.

Sheetz For The Kidz, an employee driven 501 (c) (3) charitable organization, provides children in need the opportunity to celebrate the holidays with new toys, clothes and other basic needs. Using the funds raised throughout the year, Sheetz For The Kidz partners with the The Salvation Army to identify families and collect their holiday wish lists. Sheetz employees from every Sheetz operating area participate in shopping, wrapping and hosting parties for all the participating children. Last year, more than $1.5 million was distributed, making the holiday season brighter for more than 9,300 children in the six states Sheetz operates.

In partnership with Make-A-Wish, funds raised during the campaign will also sponsor children with life-threatening medical conditions. The charity sponsors one child per Sheetz operating district, totaling 55 children last year..

“We are so grateful for the Sheetz employees who have devoted their personal time and efforts to bettering the lives of children in their communities. We are looking forward to a strong July campaign,” said Sheetz For The Kidz Executive Director Sarah Piper. “After 26 years, Sheetz For The Kidz is still growing due to the support of our generous customers and business partners who have supported fundraising events and in-store campaigns throughout the years.”

In addition to the July campaign, customers can support local kids in their community through online donations and Amazon Smile all year long. Customers can support the July campaign in the following ways:

  • Donate at a Sheetz check out.

  • Purchase a Sheetz For The Kidz water, with 25 cents from each bottle directed toward supporting the charity.

  • Purchase a 2-pack of Sheetz For The Kidz Sugared Cookie, with 20 cents from each purchase supporting the charity.

  • Shop on AmazonSmile and select “Sheetz For The Kidz” as the charity of your choice. Amazon will donate .5% of your purchases to the charity.

  • Donate online at www.sheetzforthekidz.org.

Additionally, the Sheetz For the Kidz Golf Classic celebrated its 20th year in May at PGA National Resort and Spa, raising more than $800,000.
